Hi there and welcome to our blog! We are a group of girls that are friends. We make crocheted items and crafts to raise money for Project Hope Worldwide. Project Hope Worldwide is a non-profit organization based out of Owasso, OK, that has built an orphanage in Lira, Uganda.

We typically sell our items at annual sales such as the Kid's Day at the Owasso Farmer's Market, the Owasso Chili Festival, and the Haley Palmer Craft Fair; however, we take special orders, too.

In order for our profits to go directly to Project Hope Worldwide, we appreciate monetary donations and craft supplies including yarn, beads, dominoes, patterned scrapbook paper, decorative duck tape, Mod Podge, magnets, and crochet hooks. If you would like to make a donation, you can mail it to this address:

Thanks for looking and please check back often!

Our New Ministry

Alright, it looks like the new name to take Girly Me Missions' place will be Project 1:27! Thank you all so much for supporting Girly Me Missions for all these years and we hope that you will still keep in touch with Project 1:27. We have set up a blog for our new ministry, http://project127hope4uganda.blogspot.com/ and hope you can come and see us at local craft shows (more information in the previous post). Thanks again for supporting GMM!

A New Name For GMM!

Hi everyone!

The GMM girls have been together for a while now and since we're older, we've decided the name "Girly Me Missions" is a bit "young" for us. We would like your help choosing a NEW name for our ministry! On the right side of our blog is a poll and you are welcome to vote there. But there isn't much time as it ends on the 7th of July!

We are excited about our upcoming sales this summer and fall and have lots of new crafts to share with with you - many are listed on our facebook page here. Our next sale will be Friday, August 1st at "The Gathering on Main", a new family-friendly & fun event to be held on Main Street in downtown Owasso. Please go here for more details and we hope you stop by and visit our booth! All of our proceeds go to orphan care ministries in Uganda, Africa! Thanks for shopping with purpose!

Nelly!

Recently, Abby and Mackenzie have visited Calo Me Lare. Nelly, who Girly Me Missions sponsors, had the chance to meet two of the GMM girls! Nelly received her things that the rest of the girls pitched in to give. Pictures may be posted later of her things the GMM girls put together for her! But for now, her is a picture of Nelly in her school uniform!

This is not a full smile, but oh well!
This is Abby, Anna, (Nelly's sister), and Norine.

New Update!

Hi Everyone!

So sorry that we haven't posted anything yet, but here is an update on what's been happening! We will be featured in the "For Girls Like You Magazine" here's a link: http://www.forgirlslikeyou.com/. We encourage you to subscribe. It's only 12.99 a month and it's a really fun magazine. We should be issued on the next upcoming magazine or the next one after that. ;^)

Also we did not do an update on the November Owasso Craft Fair. It went very well and the customers were good to us. We determined that we might of raised $200!!! Thanks if you came to support us!

Well that about wraps it up! Bye!

Conclusion To The Chili Cook-Off

We had the most wonderful time at the Owasso Harvest Festival and Chili Cook-Off today, including some AMAZING surprises!!! All in all it was a great success! We won first place for the best booth, which was $100 and first place for "Kid's People's Choice Chili", which was $400!!! All the money we won will go to help orphans in Uganda. Thanks to all who helped made this God-given day possible! Also, we made close to $200 with the crafts that we sold which will go to our sponsored girl, Nelly, with Project Hope Worldwide, and $130 for Arise and Shine Babies Home in Jinja, Uganda. Here are some pictures...

You'll have to excuse my mom yelling in this video. She was a little excited...

We are splitting our winnings between supporting Nelly, a five-year old orphan living at Calo Me Lare, the orphanage that Project Hope Worldwide built in Lira, Uganda...

and purchasing nine baby cribs for Arise and Shine Babies Home in Jinja, Uganda...

Thank you again to everyone for your support! And make plans now to visit our booth on Saturday, November 10th at the Owasso Craft Fair!

*** Update: On Nov. 19, 2012, nine baby cribs were delivered to Arise and Shine Babies Home. They were assembled on site, polyurethaned, then set up inside the home. Nine little ones get to sleep in new cribs and we are so excited to be a part of it!

*** Fast forward to March 7, 2013, a family with two sister's in Girly Me Missions adopted a little boy from Arise and Shine Babies Home in Uganda. Turns out, he slept in one of these cribs! What an amazing full circle of events.

You can read their adoption story here.

Christmas News Letter From Calo Me Lare

Greetings Friends!! We’ve been back in Lira for 2 months now after a great time of rest and sharing in the US. It was fantastic to see so many of you there , and we’re blessed and excited about your interest in what’s happening at Calo Me Lare! We’ve been behind with our newsletters but not due to any lack of news. We were only home for a week before the arrival of another great group of people from Discovery Bible Fellowship (Oklahoma) who shared the gospel in our village and delighted our children with Vacation Bible School. Right on the heels of that, we began the process of bringing in our next group of kids to fill the new homes. Since we returned we’ve added 22 new kids to our family, and here they are! We have 47 now, double the love. They’re adjusting well and the place is practically bristling in anticipation of Christmas. The school term is over for the year and will resume in February, so the kids are having more playtime, crafts, and VBS curriculum these days. We had our first school graduation ceremony recently with 6 students moving from Nursery to Primary School. Nearly all the students performed well enough to progress to the next grade level, and those few who aren’t quite there yet are getting some tutoring during the break. The church, which opened just before we left for the US, is growing steadily with some 200 people joining us for worship. We are amazed at what God has done with this project in so short a time, and see His hallmark trait of accomplishing that which would not be possible without His hand on it, moving hearts towards it. Your hearts! Thank you for loving, and giving, so that we are able to redeem the lives of these little ones to a life of HOPE. Thank you for your continued prayers for us, the team here, and the kids!

We Wish You a Merry Christmas!!

Love and Peace,

Andy & Cami Flege, Lira Uganda
